MIXED MEDIA PAINTINGS

Picture
Picture
"I start my paintings by creating chaos – marks and smears that are spontaneous and beautiful all on their own. Then I build energy and content with color and line.

I want to create art that you will look at again and again. I want to create a painting that draws you in to look closely to see the mystery of its creation.  My work does not have a philosophical message, it is purely the paint, the colors, the texture, the surprises. I paint my response to my world.  I paint my emotion. Enjoy."

PAINTINGS AND FINE ART PRINTS
Picture
"My goal is to convey the essence of a landscape, while eliminating much of its detail; similar to that first impression, or the large shapes you see when your eyes
are half open. I consider my work atmospheric-transitional. Influences for my work are primarily from impressionism, the tonalist movement and abstract expressionism."

Wendy is a graduate of East Carolina University with a degree in Fine Art. She worked in the fields of graphic design and photography for many years before coming full circle to painting.

CONTEMPORARY DOG AND CAT ART

Picture
"Painting is my gateway to happiness and freedom of spirit. Art is magical and has the power to transform the human existence. Why paint pets? Because they represent the purest forms of unconditional love. They love irrespective of gender, race or creed.

My love for animals stems from the deep connection I have with my own pets. I have two Chihuahuas, Sadie and Maya and one Chihuahua/Poodle mix, Frida. These babies have enhanced my life in ways that I could never explain. My heart goes out to those animals that do not have permanent homes or loving families.

I actively work with local animal rescue groups and donate my art to raise awareness and provide financial support for these wonderful organizations that strive to give all animals a deserving, loving home."

MIXED MEDIA PAINTINGS
Picture
"I love creating non-objective paintings because I find the process so expressive. Working in Mixed Media: graphite, crayons, acrylic and collage allows for creative freedom. I begin with gestural mark-making and add colors, texture and shape watching what happens intuitively while editing and adding new shapes and marks in a continuous flow.  I find myself building and removing layers, adding bursts of shapes and color - all arising and morphing with a flow of rhythm and intuition.

I am intrigued by the transformation of an artwork during it's creation. Each painting results in a new discovery of energy, movement, color, shape and emotion. Abstract art challenges us to look at art and in a sense the world in a new way.

I currently reside near Asheville, North Carolina. Surrounded by the Great Smokey Mountains, I find constant inspiration in the ever-changing panorama of my natural surroundings."

PAINTING
Picture
I have always been interested in art from a early age, eventually attending the School of Art & Design and The Art Students League. I have worked as a Graphic Designer and Illustrator, in my graphic design firm on Madison Avenue, New York.

I define my work as Realism (a.k.a. naturalism) a style of art that attempts to portray the subject as it actually appears in real life but
stops short of appearing like a photograph. I paint in the indirect method: a method in which the final effects in a picture are built up gradually by placing several layers of paint, one over the other, the upper layers modifying, but not altogether concealing, the
lower layers."

OIL PAINTINGS

"Nature inspires and informs my art through the expressive exploration of color and texture. My paintings are driven by intuition, color harmony and movement. As an artist, I am drawn to the organic forms of nature.

Many of my realistic paintings are larger than life. I favor a vibrant palette — the emotional aspect of color evokes in me a range of feelings from calm to excitement and energy. In my abstracted skyscapes and landscapes I seek to convey a feeling of the vastness and drama of nature. While the scenes are not specific, they evoke a sense of the familiar."
